Virgo Opposite Pisces Everywhere!

Virgo continues to entrench itself in recent world affairs, but mainly through its opposition to Pisces.  This is understandable as Pisces is the main sign in the world from 1433 AD to at least 2503, so Pisces becomes the reference or fulcrum point.  A number of issues are highlighting the Virgo-Pisces axis.  These include the sinking of the cruise ship Costa Concordia, the shooting of a Negro youth in Florida by a vigilante, and the ongoing pressure specifically applied to Greece’s financial woes.

Ships are Cancer but the oceans are ruled by Pisces.  Oceanic travel is therefore not favoured in a Virgo time, and the spectacular partial sinking of the Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia is further garnered under Pisces due to rumors of cocaine use by the ship’s captain – all drugs are ruled by Pisces.  The shooting of a Negro youth in Florida by a neighborhood watch volunteer (vigilante), early in 2012 invokes the Pisces connections to Negroes due to their history of (Pisces) slavery.  He was killed because he looked “suspicious”.  Pisces rules mob-rule, and though the mob in this case was one person, the fact that summary justice was executed by a sole person does not prevent it from mob-rule.  This ability to kill someone in cold blood with immunity has obviously been condoned by the Florida state government backed by the general populace – the mob.

Prisons are Pisces, and the death of 360 inmates in Honduras in February 2012 again invokes the Virgo-Pisces divide, especially as it was revealed that the prison guards would not unlock the prisoners at risk as the fire spread. A small revisiting of the oil crises of the 1970s under the Virgo micro-age (1970-85) occurred in February 2012 when Iran suspended oil exports to Britain and France in retaliation for sanctions against Iran by the European Union and the USA.

Virgo sits at the 4^th house position to Gemini – the sign of books and co-ruler of encyclopedias.  In March 2012, after 244 years of publication, the Encyclopædia Britannica discontinued its print edition – offering only an online version instead.  Demotions sit well with the 4^th house.

The Virgo nano-age and overflow (2011-13) starts as the Libra-Virgo nano-age (2011-12) and concludes with the Virgo-Leo nano-age 2012-13.  However the change between the two reflects a more powerful change, the shift from the Scorpio quasi-micro-age decan (2007-12) to the Cancer quasi micro-age decan (2012-2017/8) with each lasting about 5 years.  The demarcation should be marked by the end of the GFC, tightly associated with the Scorpio quasi-micro-age decan.  There are strong signs the GFC is coming to a close.  The secondary demarcation is the arrival of the Leo nano-age sometime in 2012.  Leo favors the mainstream over revolutionaries.  Does this mean that President Assad of Syria will win the first round against the Syrian democracy movement?  Will Mitt Romney beat Barak Obama for the 2012 presidential elections as a mainstream candidate?  Even the election of centrist Mitt Romney as the Republican presidential candidate over other extreme-right candidates suggests a moderating Leo influence. Leo is a bright sign, will the world brighten up by the end of 2012?

The Domino European Economic Collapse

Why is the European Economic Union in such economic turmoil as we end 2011? In my previous blog, The European (& American) Economic Crisis & the Libra Nano-Age I examined the relationship between Europe, the USA and the Libra nano-age (that should have commenced by 2010 at the latest).  Since that blog, the situation with Greece has intensified and Italy is beginning to succumb to the pressures of high interest rates on its debt.  Why Greece, why the return to the dark days of the GFC?  It seems that Europe is experiencing a deteriorating scenario compared to 2010.

The answer may lie with the nano-ages.  In 2010, the key nano-age was Libra – which is opposite the Aries component of Europe’s signature.  However Europe’s primary sign
is attributed to Pisces.[1]  Unfortunately for Pisces Europe, the world appears to have moved on to the Virgo nano-age in 2011 (with Virgo opposite Pisces). Is there any other supporting evidence suggesting Virgo is currently strong in the world in 2011?

The following definition of Virgo has been extracted from my recently published book THE DAWNING Shedding New Light on the Astrological Ages:

“Virgo the Virgin, an Earth sign ruled by Mercury, is oriented toward purity and detail. Major themes associated with Virgo include agriculture and farming (among other practical activities including medicine). Pottery is possibly another Virgo manifestation (traditionally pottery is linked to Capricorn). Virgo is associated with western and northern Europe. The fact that, Pisces Europe has within it a sizeable area associated to its opposite sign Virgo, can provide both weakness and strength, which may be the source of much conflict—something rife throughout Europe for the last 3,000 years or more. However, major empires or regions often have opposite signs in their astrological signature, indicating that if compromise occurs, the result is a very strong political structure. The European Economic Union may be the beginning of such a compromise, and the arrival of real strength for Europe.

Any archetype associated with Virgo’s opposite sign Pisces is, in general, lacking in Virgo. Virgo is, therefore, conservative and more concerned with the practicalities of farming, working, and making a living than esoteric religious ideals, the fine arts, and
charitable activities.”

Virgo is associated with north-western Europe, and in general these European nations are not only doing well, they are providing most of the bail-out funds for the failing
peninsular European countries such as Portugal, Greece and possibly Italy and
Spain plus the  island nations Iceland and Ireland (with Ireland basically a cut-off peninsula).  The Virgo sub-rulership of north-western Europe may have saved their bacon.

Virgo is synonymous with agriculture, farming and the production of food and can indicate hardship from crop failures.  This has been the case in the Horn of Africa. An official declaration of famine was made in Somalia in 2011 following the severest drought for 60 years.

“Drought in the Horn of Africa, coupled with conflict in Somalia, has affected over 13 million people. WFP (World Food Programme) is implementing food operations in five countries in the region (Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya and Uganda).”[2] 

Though Africa is supposedly ruled by Cancer[3], North Africa is sub-ruled by Pisces.  Also North Africa in 2011 experienced the greatest results of the Arab Spring  revolutions of 2011 (Tunisia, Egypt and Libya). With Virgo opposite Pisces indicating conflict is involved, the Arab spring Revolutions support the notion that North Africa is sub-ruled by Pisces.

Other incidental issues suggesting a Virgo flavor includes the November 2011 guilty verdict against Michael Jackson’s doctor at the time of Michael’s untimely death  suggests Virgo – the sign of the medical profession and health.  The Occupy Wall Street movement is opposed the corporate (Pisces) greed of banks and major corporations and Virgo is traditionally applied to the Working Class (Virgo is the opposite sign to Pisces).  Obama’s health care reform was passed in early 2010 but it has now become a central plank of the Republican presidential campaign in 2011 – with repeal of the health care reform a primary factor amongst competing presidential candidates who almost froth at the mouth at this possibility.

In the current Virgo-flavored time, regardless of the role the sign Pisces has with Europe,
its relationship with Greece is accentuated. At the arrival of the Aries-Pisces age in the 8^th century BC, Ancient Greece hit the road running. They already had the heritage of the Mycenaean Greeks before their Dark Age, and with the arrival of the Pisces age they quickly pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and entered the Pisces age with their guns blazing.  It took Ancient Rome many centuries to catch up with and overtake Ancient Greece to finally establish itself as the age-empire of the Aries-Pisces age.

A number of developments occurred in Ancient Greece quickly upon the arrival of the
Aries-Pisces age in 732 BC, but the archetypally important one was the development of Greek tragedy.  Actors, drama, tragedy etc. are all Pisces archetypes, and Ancient Greece appears to have pioneered dramatic tragedies only a few centuries within the Aries-Pisces age.  Traditionally Greece is not associated with Pisces, but historical events at the arrival of the Pisces age in 732 BC suggest otherwise. Pisces has a strong association with Greece.

Therefore it comes as no surprise in the current Virgo nano-age and overflow (2011-12 but possibly 2010-11) that Greece is under pressure due to the conflict between Virgo at the nano-age level and Pisces’ association with Ancient Greece.  Is it possible that the other defaulting European countries are affected by the progress of the little nano-ages?  Before Greece, the main problem countries were Iceland in 2008, with Ireland and Portugal in 2011.

The nano-age ephemeris for the current period follows the standard nomenclature of naming the overflow sign first followed by the current period. For example, in the Libra-Virgo nano-age (2011-12), the actual nano-age is Virgo, but the sign Libra has overflowed from the previous nano-age and is therefore in the dominant position:

Though Iceland is traditionally assigned the sign Aries by astrologers, based on macro-astrology methodology a different signature is unveiled.  Iceland was discovered and settled by the (Cancer) Vikings in period 874 – 1262 AD under the full brunt of the Cancer age-decan overflow (713 – 1433 AD) near the tail end of the Gemini sub-age (713 – 894 AD).  The Iceland meltdown of 2008 probably occurred in the Capricorn-Sagittarius nano-age (2007-8), with Sagittarius opposite Iceland’s Gemini and Capricorn opposite Iceland’s Cancer.

The Irish crisis of 2010 occurred either in the Sagittarius-Scorpio nano-age (2008-10) or
Scorpio-Libra nano-age (2010-11) with the Scorpio in either nano periods opposite Ireland’s Taurus (most likely the Scorpio-Libra nano-age where Scorpio is more powerful).  Portugal and Greece entered the firing line in 2011 most likely in the Libra-Virgo nano-age (2011-12) with Virgo opposing the Pisces signature associated with both
countries.  Italy was the center of the Aries-Pisces age empire of ancient Rome, and assuming that modern Italy continues to respond to its heritage, Italy is also vulnerable to Libra and Virgo in opposition to Aries and Pisces respectively and so Italy is poised to
succumb to the Libra-Virgo nano-age (2011-12).

The above correlations between the possible key signs of the astrological signatures of Iceland, Ireland, Portugal, Greece and Italy and the nano-age periods from 2007 to 2015
synchronize very tightly and contribute support for my rectification of the astrological ages and all of their sub-periods down to nano-ages.  I realize that much of this information will be too technical or uninteresting for the average reader in 2011, but this blog is devoted more to future readers than present readers.  Once the world picks up on the reality of the Aquarian age appearing in 1433 AD, or very close to this, the above research will become very interesting for many people.

As an interesting aside, I am now looking out for the appearance of the Leo nano-age due in 2012 (technically the Virgo-Leo nano-age).  Leo is an anti-revolutionary sign, and so will not tolerate Occupy Wall Street sentiments and will temporarily favor the despotic regimes in the Middle East holding out against their freedom seeking citizens.  The 15 months Leo nano-age overflow that should arrive by 2013 at the latest (if not sometime in 2012), will reignite or provide a Leo hotspot for the larger Leo micro-age overflow (2000-15).  This may indicate a short term return to the old pre-GFC days of ‘making hay while the sun shines’.  At a minimum it should help stabilize the international financial conditions that have created so much uncertainty over the last five years.

Will the Leo component of the Virgo-Leo nano-age (2012-13) unsettle Aquarian related countries? Which countries show a strong Aquarius component in their astrological signature? In THE DAWNING, Aquarius is related to North and South America (including the USA), Russia and Arabia. I also believe that Aquarius is strongly factored into the astrological signature of Germany.

However another factor must be taken into account when examining nano-ages from 2012 onwards.  Most of the above nano-ages appear in the Scorpio quasi micro-age (2007 – 12).  This period is derived from the second half of the Scorpio micro-age  decan (2005-10) and the first half of the Scorpio micro-age decan overflow (2010-15).  The Scorpio quasi micro-age (2007 – 12) appeared with the beginning of the GFC – specifically the bursting of the real estate bubble in the USA in 2007 – resulting in a meltdown of financial derivatives which then spread from the USA like a virus. With the completion of the Scorpio quasi nano-age in 2012, the world will shift to the Cancer quasi nano-age decan that does not have the archetypal connection to financial  disaster and bank insolvency of the sign Scorpio.  The appearance of Leo should coincide with the shift from the Scorpio to Cancer quasi nano-age – and therefore a temporary  get-out-of-jail card for a world troubled with the ongoing effects of the GFC.

By the end of 2012, if not before, the world should pull itself out of the GFC and move on – but where is it moving?  For one thing, it will not be moving to a period of decisive leadership. The Cancer quasi-micro-age decan (2012 -2017) is intrinsically opposite
the archetypes associated with Capricorn, the sign opposing Cancer.  Capricorn indicates wisdom, long-term planning and leadership.  Cancer periods will avoid these attributes and replace leadership with (Cancer) public opinion.  Governments will instead be
orientated towards opinion polls and sentiments of the general public, which by their very natures are short-term and usually follow the knee-jerk reaction by the general public to their immediate concerns.  This does not bode well for decisive new leadership by the many countries that have allowed themselves to live far too long on borrowed funds as if there never was going to be a tomorrow. In Scorpio periods such as the  Scorpio quasi micro-age decan (2007-12), “tomorrow” has come. Scorpio has always been the sign of unadorned reality.

Unfortunately the new Cancer period also indicates that some countries will be run by virtual lunatics, if not real lunatics. This is all the more disconcerting considering
that some of these lunatics may be in control of nuclear weapons. However the
most pervasive or ongoing issue with Cancer will be immigration or the movement
of people.  Under Cancer, people look for a new home, but unlike the previous 100,000 years or more, people can no longer migrate with their former freedom as this natural human tendency to secure a better lifestyle in a different location has now been criminalized. These Cancerian immigrants will run up against the (Cancer) public opinion of many countries – and unfortunately public opinion usually is the case of the lowest common denominator.  People in wealthy countries with enviable lifestyles generally prefer to demonize and restrict people trying to move into their territory.  A good example of this negative social interaction, that is definitely not limited to the USA, is the deteriorating treatment of the many millions of Latino illegal immigrants residing in the USA.

The coming Cancer quasi nano-age decan (2012 – 17) is occurring with the Cancer micro-age and overflow (2000-29), so the issues associated with Cancer are not so limited to
the Cancer quasi nano-age decan (2012 – 17).  Illegal immigration has been on the boil for a while, it shifted up a gear in 2007, will shift up another gear sometime in 2012, and will reach top gear in 2015 when it will go into its powerful overflow mode – full on until about 2022 but influential to 2029.

The world is heating up, and I am not talking about possible global warming associated with climate change.  Since 1970, the world has entered a phase where the major focus is on progressive social movements and instability (financial and political). This major liberalizing development however almost immediately encountered two conservative micro-age decan overflows (the Virgo micro-age overflow 1985-2000 and the Leo micro-age overflow 2000-15).  From 2015 for 15 years, the micro-ages not only head back to a liberalizing tendency, this will for the first time be aligned with the higher liberalizing tendencies of the ages and sub-age that has not been experienced in the world for over 7,000 years. [1] Europe is the progeny of the previous age empire of the Aries-Pisces age – Ancient Rome. My analysis of Ancient Rome shows direct correlations with Aries as its primary sign, followed by Pisces.  One may question why it is that modern Europe is not a direct reflection of the Aries-Pisces signature of ancient Rome?  Furthermore, I believe that the sign Aries is a major player in Europe’s astrological signature, but secondary to Pisces.  Therefore modern Europe (Pisces-Aries) is the inverse of Ancient Rome (Aries-Pisces).  The solution to this conundrum is readily available.  Modern Europe is sourced from
the collapse of the Roman Empire in the 5^th century AD at the beginning of the Pisces quasi-age (352 – 2503 AD) while Rome is sourced from the centre of the Aries quasi-age (1824 BC – 352 AD).  Both these events occurred in the Aries-Pisces age (732 BC – 1433 AD), but Rome had its emphasis with Aries and Europe with Pisces. This is the theoretical reasoning behind modern Europe’s primary sign of Pisces.

E. coli Outbreak and the Search for Nano-age Decans

The recent e-coli outbreak in Germany (June 2011), may be one of the first signs marking the arrival of the Virgo nano-age.  Based on the Aquarian age arriving in 1433 AD, the world is currently in the fourth sub-age of the Aquarian age – the Libra sub-age (1970-2148), and within the Libra sub-age sits the Cancer micro-age (2000-15), including the Virgo nano-age (2011-12).  (Each age and sub-period can always be divided into three decans or twelve duads – sub-periods). Virgo is associated with all health issues and farms – where it is believed the source or the newly mutated and virulent e-coli originated.

From the research point of view, this is possibly a minor breakthrough because if this e-coli outbreak is associated with the Virgo nano-age, this must mean that the previous nano-age, the Libra nano-age must have commenced no later than February 2010 because nano-ages are 15 months long (and represent 1/1728^th of an age).  This also opens another breakthrough in research – can nano-age decans (of approximately five months) be located?

The three decans of Virgo are Virgo, Capricorn and Taurus, but because the astrological ages (and all their sub-periods) are approached geometrically (they are all retrograde), the first nano-age decan encountered in the Virgo nano-age is Taurus, followed by Capricorn – thence Virgo.  Can we detect a five months Taurus nano-age decan?  No nano-age decan has ever been discerned to date!

There is the possibility a Taurus nano-age decan has appeared since early 2011. Taurus is a money sign, and the last few months have witnessed the deterioration in the economic recovery of the USA and some fringe European states.  Some pundits are even suggesting
that the USA is entering a double-dip recession following the great economic plunge due to the GFC.  Whatever the situation, the economic recovery is stalling in the USA, and problematic in some European countries.  This can be Taurus – but it can also be symptoms of Scorpio – the opposite sign to Taurus.  Furthermore, in recent months it has come to light that the USA is on the brink of bankruptcy as the ceiling of debt the
government can borrow to, has been reached. This also has strong Taurus (and Scorpio) connotations.

Another money-Taurus connection is the arrest and charging of the former chief of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dominique Strauss-Kahn in May 2011 for an alleged sexual assault.  Of course the nature of this charge insinuates Scorpio – entirely consistent with the fact the world is currently experiencing a Scorpio hotspot with the Scorpio micro-age decan overflow (2010-15).  The IMF belongs to the Taurus camp and its reputation has been tarnished by this scandal.  It has also cast bad light upon France, of which Dominique Strauss-Kahn is a citizen and was tipped to be a presidential candidate in 2012.  A key sign for France is Scorpio, and with Taurus in opposition to Scorpio, France felt some heat (and indignation) from this ‘slur’ upon their possible socialist candidate for President.

Taurus is also the traditional sign for Egypt.   Though the revolutionary unrest throughout the Middle East since early 2011 is directly linked to the current Scorpio hotspot in the world (see SCORPIO – the Sign of the Times …. Revisited – Part 1–Revolution and Tyrants), Egypt passed through this unrest relatively quickly and smoothly in comparison to other countries such as Yemen, Syria and Bahrain.  It is interesting that one of the first fallouts of the Egyptian uprising is the besmirched reputation of the Egyptian police force that did the bidding of its rulers and attacked the protesting population. Police are ruled by Virgo.  In the current and hypothetical Virgo nano-age decan, the police may be in the
limelight.

If we are searching for Taurus in the world, apart from money, banks and Egypt – what else can be included?  Jews, Israel and famine are key points that have previously been strongly associated with Taurus.  Certainly Israel has again been the subject of international attention with the recent statement by President Obama that in the creation of a new Palestinian state, the pre-1967 war borders should be the starting point.  This incensed Israel no end and they came out of their corner fighting, and they seem to have garnered strong support in the US Congress for their expansionary claims for the
projected Israel state rather than being limited to the size of their country before the 1967 war.  Any Scorpio period is antithetical to Taurus Israel, but this hypothetical and little Taurus nano-age decan may have saved the day (temporarily) for Israel.

Any famine or widespread starvation that is probably occurring somewhere in the world has not made the headlines, but the price of food has been sharply rising of late.  As early as February 2011, it has been widely reported that following droughts in Russia, Canada, Ukraine, China, plus floods in Australia that a number of agricultural products have become scarce.  Scarcity always increases prices and places a lot of pressure on people with subsistence income.[1]  This definitely suggests Virgo – the sign of agricultural produce, and it may also include Taurus.

Another conjecture that is possibly shining some light on Taurus is the royal wedding of William and Kate in early 2011.  It must be remembered that the Virgo nano-age (2011-12) coincides with the Libra nano-age overflow.  A Royal wedding, and apparently a love-match, firmly belongs in the Libra camp …. but the wedding did place a strong focus
upon Great Britain. The astrological signature for Great Britain has not been resolved, but aside from the strong possibility that Great Britain’s astrological signature may include Aries, Cancer, Leo and Pisces – Taurus is also in the mix.  William the Conqueror
became king of England in 1066 at the end and high point of the Taurus sub-age overflow (894-1073).  The wedding of William and Kate does support the arrival of the Taurus nano-age.

Ireland is unashamedly linked to Taurus, and the very first visit to Ireland by a British monarch since the Irish Rebellion of 1919 – 21 occurred in May 2011 (which coincidentally occurred towards the end of the lunar month of Taurus). Ireland was one of the fringe European countries to be hammered by the GFC, associated with the Scorpio hotspot.
Any Taurus country will experience problems in a period ruled by its opposite sign but will often experience positivity in a period of its own sign.  The fact that the possible Taurus nano-age decan does sit within the Scorpio hotspot is consistent to developments in

If the Taurus nano-age decan has been detected, this is another major breakthrough for research into the astrological ages.  However, one nano-age decan is not sufficient proof.  Following the Taurus nano-age decan should be the Capricorn nano-age decan.  To date there is no current development that is seemingly placing an archetypal focus upon Capricorn.

The reason why detecting the Taurus nano-age decan (or any other nano-age decan) is so important, and a breakthrough, is because nano-ages provide the accuracy for determining the arrival of any age – including the Aquarian age.  Currently I have the Age of Aquarius arriving in 1433 – or up to two years earlier. This is based on my previous research that has detected the 15 months long nano-ages.  There is always a level of error with any sub-period of an age due to the overflow effect (see Is the Aquarian Age Like a Block of Granite?).  This error is in the order of magnitude equivalent to the smallest size of the period utilised for the purposes of rectification.  However, if the nano-age decans can be delineated, then the accuracy of the rectification of the Aquarian age would drop to five months (the length of a nano-age decan).

The European (& American) Economic Crisis & the Libra Nano-Age

The economic crisis affecting a large swathe of Europe may provide strong support that the Libra nano-age is creating its mark.  Time magazine recently included as a cover story Why Europe Can’t Get Off The Ground[1] and then proceeds to provide more details in its contents page with: Continental Drift With its debts, deficits and other economic woes, Europe has become the world’s greatest post-recessionary problem. From a top down analysis of the world economic situation, Europe appears to be having the greatest problem in 2010, with the USA in second place. This may very well be symptomatic of the Libra nano-age.

If you refer to my previous blog – At the Cutting Edge of the Aquarian Age I provide the theoretical division of each astrological ages into three age-decans (approx. 720 years each) and twelve sub-ages (approx 179 years each with four sub-ages per age-decan).  Each sub-age also has twelve micro-ages (approx. 15 years each) and each sub-age has twelve nano-ages (approx. 15 months each).  Based on my rectification of the Aquarian age arriving in 1433 AD – or up to two years earlier – currently the world should be in a tiny little Libra nano-age (lasting 15 months) commencing in 2010 at the latest.

You may consider a 15 months period in an astrological age that lasts some 2150 years is of no consequence – but research clearly indicates that this is not the case.  In addition, at various times, certain signs become more influential than other signs.  Currently this applies to Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Libra, Scorpio, Aquarius and Pisces because for each of these signs the world is currently in a larger period ruled by that sign. I call this effect ‘resonance’. The current Libra nano-age has resonance.  Firstly it resonates with the Libra sub-age (1970 – 2148), secondly it resonates with the Libra age-decan (1433 – 2148) of the Aquarian age.  Any small period that has resonance can have much greater influence compared to many of the other periods of the same magnitude.

The link between the Libra nano-age (2010-2011) and the economic turmoil in Europe is via the sign Aries.  Aries is the opposite sign to Libra.  In a Libra period, Aries archetypes are in detriment, opposition or just at the wrong place at the wrong time.  It was during my current revision of my soon to be published book on the astrological ages (see www.macro-astrology.com) that I rediscovered the Aries connection to Europe. Ancient Rome was the empire of the Aries-Pisces age (732 BC – 1433 AD) with Aries the senior partner – Europe was its successor.

To a certain extent Europe inherited the Aries (and Pisces) signature in its astrological make-up from Ancient Rome. Aries is not the primary sign for Europe – the strongest sign for the whole of Europe is Pisces, with Capricorn affecting the south and east of Europe and Virgo affecting the north and west of Europe.  Furthermore Ptolemy assigned Aries to the Europeans (rightly or wrongly) suggesting that Aries and Europe share some common traits at least.

If Aries can be pinned to Europe (like some kind of cosmic pin the tail on the donkey) then this will place Europe on the back foot in a Libra period – no matter how small the Libra period.  Certainly Europe is experiencing greater economic woes in 2010 compared to any other region in the world.  Not only are European countries swimming in debt, but this debt has severely increased since 2006. Italy and Greece now have projected debt at the end of 2010 of 135% and 139% respectively of their Gross Domestic product (GDP).  In other words they will owe well over their economic output for a full year.  Other European countries projected to owe between 90% and 100% of their GDP are France, Portugal, Ireland and Great Britain. Finally, economists expect the growth in Europe in 2010 to be only 1%, well below the forecast for the USA.

What we are witnessing here is the Aries pedigree for Europe in conflict with the current Libra nano-age.  If so, this problem should not be long lasting, with a 15 to 30 months time-frame – the length of a nano-age and its overflow.  It could all be over by as early as mid 2011 – or as late 2012 in a worse case scenario. The shift from the Libra nano-age and overflow (2101 – 2012) to the overlapping Virgo nano-age and overflow (2011 – 2013) should see a strengthening of the north and western European countries as these countries historically have sympathies to Virgo.  This is despite the fact that Virgo is the opposite sign to Pisces – the primary sign for the whole of Europe.  It should be noted that all the European economic basket cases (except perhaps Ireland) are the southern peninsula countries of Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal that are in the Capricorn European bloc.

I first became aware of the relationship of nano-ages and the fate of countries early in the GFC when Australia avoided going into recession unlike most First World countries.  A primary sign in Australia’s astrological signature is Sagittarius.  The Sagittarius nano-age (plus its overflow) ruled the period 2007 to 2010.  Therefore the Sagittarius nano-age positively resonated with a key part of Australia’s astrological signature and it therefore it escaped the worst vicissitudes of the GFC.  This is also reflected in the strong Australian dollar of recent times.

The reason the USA continues to be sluggish in its recovery from the GFC, but nowhere near as sluggish as the Europeans, is that it inherited Aries from Europe but at the second generation. If Europe is the child of (Aries) Ancient Rome then the USA is the grandchild of Ancient Rome. Therefore while Aries remains strong in the USA (guns, guns and more guns as one example), the Aries influence is one step removed compared to Europe. On the level of debt, the USA demonstrates the same maligned economic influence of many of the worst European countries – the USA debt level increased from around 55% of GDP in 2006 to 95% projected by the end of 2010.  However the USA forecasted growth from 2010 is much better.

Unfortunately the USA does not have Virgo in its astrological signature to fall back upon when the nano-age baton is passed on from Libra to Virgo in contrast to the Virgo bloc in Europe.  Virgo is the opposite sign to Pisces, and while Pisces is strong in Europe, it is even stronger in the USA.  Pisces is the prime zodiacal sign for the USA (with Aquarius in second place).  The USA may be better off than Europe in 2010, but this may not be the case in 2012 and 2013.

Despite the uncertainty of America’s economic recovery in comparison to Europe, the variation in response to the after effects of the GFC between Europe and the USA strongly supports the evidence that the world is definitely somewhere within the Libra nano-age or overflow that I have speculatively assigned the period 2010 to 2013.  However the Libra nano-age may have arrived as early as 2009.  Are we seeing in Europe (and the USA) the effects of the Libra nano-age or the Libra nano-age overflow?  Only time and more research will tell.

At the Cutting Edge of the Aquarian Age (Copyright Terry MacKinnell 2010)

The arrival of the Age of Aquarius is like the incoming tide.  Typically this can be measured by watching how far each wave travels up the beach.  On average each wave should venture further up the beach compared to the previous wave.  In practice this does not happen.  Many waves will venture further up the beach compared to the previous wave, while many new waves will actually venture less than the previous wave. This is analogous to the arrival of the Aquarian age. Though we know the world will increasingly come under the influence of the arrival of the Aquarian age, and on average more historical developments will cumulatively align themselves to Aquarian archetypes compared to the past, there will be some temporary backtracking.

Aside from this backtracking, the Aquarian age is not homogenous.  The Aquarian age has three age-decans (chronologically in order Libra (1433-2148 AD), Gemini and Aquarius – age-decans proceed in reverse direction as do their parent age).  Therefore in the last third of the Aquarian age when the world also experiences the Aquarian age-decan – the net influence from Aquarius should be stronger.  This is why astrological ages are stronger at their ends compared to their beginnings.

Drilling down to the next level, each astrological age has twelve sub-ages with each sub-age lasting some 178 years each. Currently the world is in the Libra sub-age, but due to the overflow effect of the cultural momentum of one period affecting the following period, the greatest influence upon the world at present on the sub-age level is the Scorpio sub-age overflow.  This is why volcanoes (Iceland), pollution (currently Gulf of Mexico and earlier in 2010 the north-east coast of Australia – plus the failed Copenhagen Conference on climate change of late 2009), sexual activity and scandals (see politicians in your country for details), abortion, paedophiles (Roman Catholic Church), terrorists (especially suicide terrorists), GM foods, genetic engineering, taxation, nuclear weapons and power (the massive increase in proposed construction of nuclear reactors in Europe and the USA), sovereign (Greece, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Ireland) and private debt (including the ubiquitous credit card) and earthquakes (Haiti, China and Chile) are so much the focus of the news.

Naturally when the world encounters the Leo sub-age of the Aquarian age (around 2327-2506 AD including the Leo sub-age overflow 2506 – 2684 AD), Aquarian influences will be curtailed because Leo is the opposite sign to Aquarius.

Below sub-ages exist sub-age decans of almost 60 years each. Currently the world is in the Gemini sub-age decan (1970 – 2029 AD – with its overflow strongly influencing the world for the following period of 2029-2089).  The arrival of Gemini can readily be seen through the dramatic appearance of email and the world wide web as part of the wider communications revolution including texting.  The Gemini sub-age decan strongly suggests that further revolutionary developments associated with transport is sure to come over the coming 70 years as clean energy replaces fossil fuels.  The resurgence of cities – and especially inner cities – since the 1970s is another example of Gemini at play.  Gemini suggests that wind power is the next major focus of interest in clean energy.

At the next level down are micro-ages (with 12 micro-ages of around 15 years each in each sub-age).  Currently the world is in the Cancer micro-age (2000-2015).  This is the formative stage for Cancer but already we see a strong worldwide focus upon immigration – especially illegal immigration into Europe, the ongoing Latino invasion of the USA (Nevada’s restriction law of illegal immigrants and Australia’s problem with illegal immigrants or refugees from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Iraq).  Under Cancer people look for a new home so the issue will grow, not diminish over the next 20 years.  Another example of Cancer is the assortment of new restrictive laws in some European countries banning Islamic women the right to hide their faces in public.  Cancer is the sign of shyness and ‘hiding oneself away’ – so this behaviour of some Islamic women to hide their faces is most likely in a growth phase for around the next 20 years.  Cancer is also a major sign associated with Islam, so developments in Islamic nations and religion are bound to be highly significant for the next 20 years.  Cancer is also a Water sign, so issues related to water supply, quality, floods etc are also in a ‘growth’ phase. The micro-ages in our part of the Aquarian age are displayed in the following table:

The story does not stop at micro-ages.  Each micro-age has three micro-age decans of approximately 5 years each.  Currently the world has just entered the Cancer micro-age decan (2010-15) of the Cancer micro-age (2000-15) but due to the overflow effect, the greatest influence between 2010-15 is from the Scorpio micro-age decan overflow. This sharpens the overall influence of the Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970-2148) making the five years from 2010 to 2015 a particularly potent Scorpio period. This is why all the issues associated with the Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970-2148) are so strong at present.  We should also expect increased revolutionary activity, political assassinations and an increased feeling of fragility and vulnerability until 2015 at least.

There is even a lower level than micro-age decans.  When each micro-age of some 15 years is divided by 12, the result is 12 nano-ages of approximately 15 months each.  Which nano-age are we currently passing through (see table below for nano-age ephemeris)?  The problem with this question is that the order of magnitude of a nano-age is the same level of inaccuracy associated with my rectification of the astrological ages and all their sub-periods.  This is why I currently cannot exactly determine if the Aquarian age arrived in 1433, 1432 or even possibly 1431 AD.  However based on the Aquarian age arriving in 1433, the Cancer micro-age should sit from 2000-2015, and within the Cancer micro-age the Scorpio micro-age decan 2005-10, therefore 2010 should also be a Scorpio nano-age[1].  However if the Aquarian age arrived one year earlier, the bulk of the Scorpio nano-age should have been 2009, and the bulk of 2010 should be associated with a Libra nano-age.  Is the world currently in the Scorpio nano-age, Libra nano-age (or even possibly the Virgo nano-age if the Aquarian age arrived in 1431)?

At the cutting edge of the Aquarian age I can clearly see the Scorpio hotspot associated with the Scorpio micro-age decan and overflow (2005-15) resonating with the Scorpio sub-age overflow (1970-2148).  With Scorpio so strong at present, we cannot isolate the Scorpio nano-age but must look for manifestations of Libra (and even Virgo) to determine where we exactly fit in the Aquarian age.  Has the Libra nano-age arrived?

What can we expect from Libra?  Some kind of focus upon women, indecisiveness – especially in politics, some focus upon the art world, and possibly a focus upon the Greens and gardens in general. Certainly the failed Copenhagen climate conference at the end of 2009 demonstrated lack of political will. The outlawing of women hiding behind traditional clothes that mostly hide their faces from the public is a focus upon females.  However these two alone are insufficient to allow us to unambiguously declare the world is in the Libra nano-age.

Because Aries is opposite Libra, Arian archetypes can temporarily suffer under Libra, or Aries archetypes suffer from some short acute opposition.  What Aries archetypes may this apply to in the world at present?  Aries is commonly associated with the military, war and violence with some focus upon engineering, sport, automobiles, health, magnetism and Germany.  Has opposition to these Arian archetypes developed recently?  In the USA we have recently had the controversy over endemic head injuries to football players and the massive brain damage they experience from these injuries.  The proposal to allow gays to openly serve in the US armed forces suggests some softening of attitude in the (Aries) military.  Greece is currently the arch-villain in Europe due to its sovereign debt crisis.  Greece has strong historical connections to Aries though modern rulerships applied to Greece include Capricorn and Virgo.  Is the Greek debt crisis an attribute associated with Virgo?

All this is not enough to maker a hasty conclusion that the world has arrived in the Libra nano-age or even Virgo nano-age.  Why?  Because at any time archetypes associated with all the zodiacal signs can be perceived.  To make the conclusion that the Libra nano-age has arrived needs some very hard evidence. Also each sign manifests itself in its overflow period almost twice as much in its period proper. The following table indicates my proposed ephemeris the nano-ages in the current Cancer micro-age (2000-15).  It is in the period immediately following that the appearance of historical developments associated with the archetypes of the sign in question become most obvious.  Therefore while Libra is assigned the timeframe of 2010-11, its greatest manifestation should be the following period of 2011-12.

Though there is tantalising evidence for the appearance of Libra in the world above and beyond the random appearance of any sign at any time, there is not enough evidence to suggest that this has definitely occurred to date.  This is where we are at the cutting edge of the Aquarian age.  I know our age, age-decan, sub-age, sub-age decan, micro-age and micro-age decan. It is only the nano-age that remains unresolved.  The following indicates supportive recent historical evidence for nano-ages since the year 2000:

Based on my nano-age ephemeris, 2010 on the nano-age level should have as its primary sign Scorpio, with Libra the emergent sign.  Sometime in 2011 Libra should become the major nano-age sign with Virgo the emergent sign.  It is very possible that we are experiencing the emergence of Libra since late 2009 or early 2010, and if so the manifestation of Libra should be obvious by the end of 2011 at the latest.  It is at the cutting edge of the Aquarian age that we must wait and look at the unfolding evidence over the course of 2010 and especially 2011.
